Hiking in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland –
trails straight from the doorstep
Rosehill Cottage lies in the middle of the premium hiking park Lahn-Dill-Bergland – the nearest trailhead is only ~500 m away.
A hiking park on your doorstep
The Lahn-Dill-Bergland hiking park consists of the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail and 18 so-called Extratouren – certified as premium trails by the German Hiking Institute. Light-flooded forests, quiet heights, sweeping views: here you hike without any driving stress, as several routes start practically at the cottage.
Three trails not to miss
From an after-dinner stroll to a long-distance stage.
Hohe Straße premium trail
Premium circular trail from Siegbach
This premium trail runs across the heights of Siegbach – along a historic trade route used as far back as Celtic times. Highlights: Tringenstein castle ruin (built in 1325, with a model of the former complex) with views as far as the Marburg region, the Taunus and the Westerwald, plus the striking Wilhelmsteine rocks.
Tip: The trailhead is just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage.
Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail
Long-distance trail Herborn – Marburg
The roughly 85–90 km main trail of the hiking park links Herborn on the Dill with Marburg on the Lahn – crossing the forests and heights of Siegbach on the way. Ideal in day stages: set off from the doorstep and leave the car behind.
Tip: Perfect for a multi-day hiking holiday with a fixed base.
Aartalsee panorama path
Lakeside loop, ~8 km drive
Lake Aartalsee near Bischoffen is Hesse’s second-largest lake. A 7.5 km circular path leads around the main and upper reservoirs – the upper reservoir is a nature reserve home to rare bird species. The panorama path on the northern shore is easy to walk and offers plenty of space for you and your dog.
Tip: A lovely half-day trip – even in changeable weather.
Up-to-date trail details and GPS data are available from the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Nature Park (in German).
